Agility at it's best! Reno and Alan Dormann
The one showing us both, on the left, was taken at the Malvern autumn show, back end of this summer, it was the national agility challenge final run by country shows.
The second one shows ‘Kamikaze Reno’ competing at Lydiard park, also this summer (2023). The judge was standing pretty adjacent when she flew over the A frame. Dogs are expected to get three strides in and hit the exit contact.... Reno did it in two AND still nailed the contact. She was flying that day.

Kerensa (Rocvilla Theory of Love at Sebriville) is now 20 months old & in Celia's classes.
Phoenix (Sandcliffe Phoenix Rising Over Sebriville) is 11yrs & 3.5months old .... she hasn't gone back to Class since Covid-19 But she worked her way through the Classes / trainers & has Bronze, Silver & Gold GCDS awards.) Wasn't I a clever girl at WELKS today ! |
Thanks for visiting my S⬆️2C fundraising page.
https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/traceys-su2c-dog-walking-giving-page-73 Many people will know of me and my Boxer girls over the years .... We joined the Club in 2004 with our 1st Boxer - Freya, then her daughter Zuela in 2007 (who was just over 13 when we lost her late Aug 2020). Next came Phoenix in 2012 and more recently (in 2021), Kerensa. Along with my S⬆️2C walking buddies, Boxers - Phoenix & Kerensa, I completed the "60 miles in April Dog Walkies Challenge for Stand Up To Cancer". We were aiming for 100+ , but we recorded 80.36 miles due to a few days of Vet visits & bring nursemaid after Phoenix collapsed in the Woods for some unknown reason (she's fine now) We've been raising funds in the memory of loved ones we've lost to cancer including my Dad (last November) and my husband's mum - 25 years ago (just weeks before we got married). Also, to show my support for friends as they embark on their journey (Ladies - you've got this 🫂😘) Not forgetting our 1st Boxer - Freya, who we lost to cancer at just over 7yrs old in March 2011. Paw-lease show your support and help fund life-saving research by donating to my page. Any amount, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Tracey, Phoenix & Kerensa |
RENO at Newbury with Alan Dormann
Reno achieved a creditable 3rd place in the beginners jumping class at Barkway agility show, Newbury showground last Saturday. She was leading the class for a long time but just got pipped at the post by two great collies. There was barely ¾ second covering the top 3 places. So pleased that she can mix it up with the best of them.

What a topsy turvey day we had yesterday !!!
Kerensa finished her long day at Bath Championship Show (& South Western Boxer Club Open) by taking Group 1 in the fairly new Kennel Club sponsored
"Special Beginners Working Group"
Wow & whoopie 🍾😁💥
She must have been the youngest at just under 9 months old.
The 5 qualifiers (from the Special Beginners Breed Class) that stayed for the Group were
Dobermann (Group 2), Alaskan Malamute, Greenland Dog & Siberian Husky.
The judge (Mr R J H Richards) after photos were taken, said she was "very promising".
Then we were sent off to get Kerensa's winnings .... £40 !!
Still reeling !
Photo taken just before she fell asleep as I watched the Working Group.

Bonniejazz is 3years old and a working cocker spaniel we were lucky enough to be team members on the cocker spaniels obedience team . After competing at 4or 5 qualifying heats over the last year, not an easy feat as the team members where from all over the country, it involved dedication, travelling and a lot of training, we came 5th at the end of year which meant we had qualified to compete in the final at cruft's 2022. We where all thrilled at the chance for our lovely cockers who did us proud and we finished 2nd, out of 9 teams.
Thank you to Stonehouse dog training club, who have helped me with training all my dogs.

Charlotte's Chihuahua Koko, Monday 02 November 2020 during Celia's 20:00 class
Classes resumed on 14 September 2020 after the national lockdown and a few weeks to ensure the committee had proper advice and precautions in place to protect people attending the training.

Meet the Dachshund
This evening (Monday 13 Jan 2020) Jonty and I met the cutest little 13 week old Dachshund.
I never thought to ask his/her name I was just so amused as those little legs jumped around when they were running outside for a wee (just the dog I think).
I'll update this when I find out the dogs name.

Dogs attacking other Dogs
Bit of a discussion this evening, 09 April 2018, about dogs being attacked by other dogs.
When we got our Long Haired Chihuahua, Foxy, in 2010 the vet reckoned he was about 3 years old. He was dreadful and would attack ANY dog, ANY size, no matter HOW far away it was.
Stonehouse Dog Training Club sorted him out and he tolerates other dogs now, still doesn't like them but at least he tolerates them.
I mentioned that I had this photograph of Foxy and our Son in Laws large Fox Red Labrador, Diesel, and that I would post it on the website.
Thank you SDTC for making Foxy a lot easier to live with!!! (P.S. he has always been lovely and well behaved with humans and children!)

the return of Jonty and foxy
After an absence of 4 years Jonty the Bichon and Foxy the Long Haired Chihuahua returned to the club.
Jonty had been attending since he was a 14 week old puppy and he is now 10 and a half so attended for 6 years and achieved Gold Good Citizen Dog
Foxy was a rescue and would attack any dog, no matter how large or how far away, and came to the club for socialisation with other dogs. He did so well that in the three years of attendance he obtained his Silver Good Citizen Dog Award, and that includes not attacking other dogs so well done Foxy!
What made them return was Jonty's excitement, on the 19th February 2018, when his owner Marlane said to him 'Do you want to go to Doggy School with Daddy?'. He jumped up and ran down the stairs, sat in the the hallway waiting for his 'Daddy', David, to get his lead. This is how he used to react every Monday evening during those 8 years.
It was going to be a social visit but it was obvious that Jonty loved the prospect of training again so membership was signed up and he joined the class that very night, and he loved it.
Foxy sat it out with Linda but he was very well behaved and got along with the other dogs.

Boxers Sled Team (From Tracey)
Thought you might like this !!
One of the dad's at school is a (newspaper) photographer & when he heard about the boxer girls pulling Dylan from home to Stroud on Sunday (including across a couple of fields at a decent trot!!), he thought he'd missed out on some good pics. Then on Weds after yet more snow!!) he saw me & asked if we'd be sledging again - here's the result (he's actually just been pulled from school to the local playing field & then cross the field a few times, but same difference!).
He's e-mailing me the pics at some stage - this is the one that made the Gloucestershire Citizen newspaper (just a small pic) - I've enlarged it. Zuela's an old hand at it - she & Freya (mum) pulled Dylan in the snows of Jan 2010, Phoenix (the red boxer in tartan coat) is just learning & loving it!!

A few photos from Marg's class, 20:00 on the Monday. Foxy was left out of it tonight but he behaved himself excellently. He was tied to the table leg and he never made a sound, just lay or sat watching what was going on.
Also couldn't resist taking a couple of Foxy (Long haired Chihuahua) with Alfie (Leonburger), didn't quite get the effect I was after (Little and Huge) but not bad.

Featuring Foxy - 06 August 2012
Both Jonty and Foxy attend doggy school thanks to Debbie who handles Jonty for me. This has been invaluable in socialising Foxy, who was terrible when he started coming to the club. Another dog couldn't come within a hundred yards and Foxy would be going berserk! He's much more tolerant nowadays.
Thanks to Linda for taking these photographs.

Monday 23 Jan 2012 - 8-9 Class with Margaret
Some shots I took at random on the night. Sally and Jet are out of focus but I wanted to put one on at least as this was jet's first night. Sally lost Dill (Spelling?) a couple of weeks ago when he passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Jet is from Teckles to see how he gets on but judging from tonights behaviour I think we are going to see a lasting relationship between the two of them.
Neil's Australian Cattle Dogs
Kua, on the left, and Zebedee (Zeb) on the right are a splendid addition to the club as there are no other Australian Cattle Dogs.
I (David) remember Mike Vine's face when Neil walked in with Kua. His face lit up and he was really quite excited. Mike is a judge for Aussie Cattle Dogs.
By the way, Kua is Aborigine for 'Dog'.

David & Marlane Rose - Jonty & Foxy
Jonty (Bichon Frise) & Foxy (Chihuahua) - owned by Marlane and David Rose.
Always cheerful, always adorable the curly-haired Bichon Frise is thought to be a cross between the poodle and the Barbet Water Spaniel. It was originally bred to be a lapdog for French royalty, but it was left to the streets during the French Revolution. Only the strongest of this intelligent, playful, and gentle breed survived. It is also recorded that it was a popular dog with seaman who used to take them onto the old sailing ships and used to catch rats. They don't moult, so need to be cut regularly, and although a small dog they love to run and have exercise.

Barbara & Harry
Harry, the German Shepherd Dog, is a rescue dog who was abused, starved and shut up for the first 11 months of his life. Since being rescued, by Barbara, he has been in a loving home and within six months he was responding incredibly well to dog training. Everyone in the class that Harry attends is amazed at the difference in him since he started training and it is all down to Barbara and the guidance from Marg, the SDTC instructor. He is an incredible example of how a dog will respond to kind treatment.

2 photos are from the 1st time FREYA went to Crufts. It was March 2006 - she was aged 2 yrs 2 1/2 months. She was entered in 2 classes & won 1st in "Kennel Club Good Citizens Dog Scheme - Boxer Bitch". Each breed has such a class as well as the other breed classes. ONLY those dogs who have at least passed KC GCDS at Bronze level are eligible to enter this class. So they have to be doubly qualified to enter as they need to get the Bronze AND qualify for Crufts!! That April she got her Soilver award & in the August passed the gold ! Just goes to show ! She also won the GCDS class the following year, but we didn't enter her in 2008 (although qualified). This year her daughter Zuela (aged 2 yrs 9mths) is trying her luck as she qualified for Crufts next Thurs - she too has Bronze, Silver & Gold GCDS awards, so have entered her in these 2 classes - including GCDS one & have our fingers crossed! (N.B. Watch this space for updates after CRUFTS 2010).
