Christmas 2020 - Committee Meet
While we are not having our usual Christmas festivities and presentations this year the committee met at the Community Centre on Monday 14 December just to wish each other a Happy Christmas and exchange cards etc.
I, although not a committee member, was invited as Webmaster, for which I was very honoured and grateful.
I took a few photographs which include Mike and Celia Vines, Linda Lane, Dave and Jean Hogg, Jenny Broadbank, Jackie Smith, Val Richards, Ryszard and Shirley Pierchod, plus the dogs Jonty (Bichon) and Poppy (Westie).

Christmas Presentation Evenings.
In the past SDTC held a large evening for presentations at the end of the year. It became impractical to carry on with such a large and complex event so each class now does it's own presentations on a club night.
A period of obedience training is followed by presentations and refreshments giving class members the opportunity to mingle and chat.
Thanks to Jackie Smith for all of the photographs.

During Celia's class, 20:00 on Monday, a special award rosette was given to Ian and his Greyhound/Lurcher cross Bertie who also passed his Silver GCD award on 17 December.
Well done to both on such great progress.

Career for young dog handlers?
Anyone got children that love dogs and wondering what to do with their lives. You could do a lot worse than joining up as a dog handler.
The Army dog handling is all carried out by the Royal Veterinary Corps now but the RAF still has a Police Dog Section.

Some are not great photographs but it's a shame to miss anyone out.
Club Manager Retires - Mike Vines
Mike has been with the Stonehouse Dog Training Club since 1963, a long time indeed. He rose to be Club Manager, Chief Steward at the Championship Shows and Head Instructor. He is also a qualified judge and officiated at CRUFTS in 2010 with the Australian Cattle Dogs. During his time with the Club he has trained over 48,000 puppies and dogs, an amazing achievement by anyone's standards.
Mike used to be in the Royal Military Police, as a dog handler, before settling in Stonehouse after his service career.
Mike will continue taking the Puppy and New Starter classes on Monday and Tuesday evenings so continuing to add to that 48,000!

11 Dec 2009 - Bacon Butty Morning
Each December the club invites the community of Stonehouse to a morning of free bacon butties, sausage rolls, tea/coffee and a raffle. It's an opportunity to have a chat in the warm and start the day off with a nice hot bacon roll and ALL are welcome
07 Dec 2009 - Presentation Evening
Presentation Evening was held 7 December 2009 and was, as usual, very well attended by many members. It's a long time to sit on those plastic chairs but everyone thoroughly enjoys the evening, despite the sore hands from clapping everyone getting rosette's, cups, shields and awards of many different descriptions. Not a single member goes home without some sort of award.
It's not just the dogs that get awards, people also deserve them for the work they put into the club.
